Individual, Couple, and

Family Therapy

I use a number of evidence-based and empirically supported therapy approaches to promote healing and self-empowerment in individuals, couples, and families.

Psychotherapy can be an effective means of promoting individual and relational growth. Psychotherapy is a process in which the therapist and client discuss events and experiences for the purpose of creating positive change so that the client can experience life more fully and begin living the life they want to live. Therapy provides an opportunity to better and more deeply understand oneself as well as any problems or difficulties one may be experiencing. Psychotherapy is a joint effort between client and therapist. Progress and success may vary depending upon the particulars being addressed, as well as many other factors.

Participating in psychotherapy may result in a number of benefits, including, but not limited to, reduced stress and anxiety, a decrease in negative thoughts and behaviors, improved interpersonal relationships, increased comfort in social, work, and family settings, increased capacity for intimacy, and increased self-confidence. Such benefits do require effort on the part of the client, including an active participation in the process, honesty, and a willingness to change for the better.

Participating in psychotherapy may also involve some discomfort, including remembering and discussing unpleasant events, feelings, and experiences. The process may evoke strong feelings. There may be times in which I will challenge your perceptions and assumptions and offer different perspectives. The issues presented by the client may result in unintended outcomes, including changes in personal relationships. Clients should be aware that any decision on the status of personal relationships, career, health, finances, and development are the responsibility of the client. Personal growth and change through psychotherapy may be easy and swift at times but can also be a bit challenging.
