About Dr. Peter Salerno

I’m Dr. Peter Salerno—a retired licensed psychotherapist, educator, and author with a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and a Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Psychology. Over the past two decades, I’ve specialized in personality disorders and pathological abuse, working across a wide range of clinical and forensic settings. I’ve also received advanced training in complex trauma and was trained to administer the Hare Psychopathy Checklist–Revised (PCL-R), the international gold standard for assessing psychopathy.

Today, I focus on helping people make sense of the confusing, painful, and often invalidating dynamics that come with relationships involving pathological personalities. I do this through education, writing, and private consultations—not traditional therapy. My goal is to provide clear, evidence-based insight to those who feel lost, blamed, or dismissed by conventional mental health narratives.

I’m the author of several books, including:

  • The Nature and Nurture of Narcissism – #1

    Amazon new release

  • Traumatic Cognitive Dissonance – Top new release in seven categories

  • Fit For Off Duty – Required reading at the FBI Academy in Quantico

But my professional expertise isn’t the only reason I do this work. I’ve lived it, too.

I’ve personally experienced the kind of psychological abuse that most people can’t name—let alone explain. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others reclaim their power, rebuild their lives, and never again be fooled by manipulation disguised as love.

If you’re ready to understand what’s really happening in your relationship—and how to move forward—I’m here to help.
